The city’s new District Attorney stood in the Mayor’s doorway. Mayor Dickinson had heard the door open his eyes were tracking her movement. He rose to his feet and walked around his desk to take a closer and better look of her. Indeed she was an attractive woman. He smiled at her offering his hand as a sign of good faith, “Congratulations Miss Harris on being elected Drakesville’s District Attorney. I look forward to working with you. Can I get you a cup of coffee or something and talk about law & order in our town?”

Bailey was very much in a thrilling mood at the moment, having just won her election, even though she had known from the beginning that she would win. People wanted someone with a sense of order and power to be there to stand up and put away the criminals that plagued the streets. Bailey was that person. Young, she might be, but knowledgeable she most definitely was. "Thank you, Mr. Mayor," Bailey said moving forward into the office. Without even asking, she took a seat opposite the Mayor's desk. "I'm thrilled to have the position, and I look forward to working with someone of such great stature as yourself. Coffee would be delightful," Bailey said, tossing her hair back.

Bruce admired Miss Harris’ beauty. His eyes sort of trailed off and he was fidgety with his tie – straightening it out. He was a neat freak something that had rubbed off from his wife, “You are more than welcome Madam District Attorney.” He turned his back to her walking over to the coffee pot while looking over his shoulder, “How do you take it? How do you take it? Your coffee I mean?”

Bailey noticed the man fidgeting with his tie, either a nervous habit, or a sign of someone with obsessive compulsive disorder. The latter seemed more likely to her. Most men in power had that type of mindset, orderly, everything in a perfect spot, its own little space. She raised her eyebrows at him as he asked how she took it. She stared him back. "I take it black. It's stronger that way. More potent to the senses. Why would anyone want it any other way?" She adjusted her hair again, and straightened the jacket of her black pantsuit. "So, Mayor, what kind of plans do you have for the two of us. Since we're going to be working so closely together."

“I couldn’t agree with you anymore,” Dickinson answered. He loved his coffee hot. The same way he liked his women. He felt the pot with the back of his hand, “The coffee’s cold. You mind waiting until I make a new pot?”
He picked up the coffee pot and walked out of his office and came back in. He had dumped the cold coffee into the sink and poured water to fill it up. He poured it in, placed it down. Took out the filter and put in a new one, “How many scoops you like Miss DA?”

Anyone who had the same taste in coffee as Bailey could be counted as an ally. In her eyes, coffee was the same as people. Some were strong, untainted, seekers of power. Others were watered down with things that weren't important. Power was important. Status was important. Bailey knew that much for sure. That's why she was the second most powerful person in the city.
"No. I like my coffee hot. Sizzling hot," she said with a sly smile. Once again, she flipped her hair back, taking time to admire the Mayor as he made the coffee. He wasn't that bad after all. She of course knew that he must be thinking the same of her, let us all be honest, who didn't? "So, how does it feel to be so powerful, Mayor Dickenson? Is it a thrill?" Bailey lived for thrills in life. For things that were a little bit edgy. power added all that to life.

Bruce put in six scoops of coffee beans that had already been grinded into an ash-like substance. He looked over at her with a grin, “I strive on power and coffee. They add up to something marvelous. Do you agree?” He turned around and leant up against the counter. She was a lovely, sexy and attractive woman. He wanted to tell her that. She definitely knew it. She carried herself like so.

She eyed him again. "Yes. I do agree wit you. Coffee and Power are wonderful. Not to mention that both are such thrills. I pride myself on the fact that I love power. Those in power usually do. It's one thing that makes us so sexy in real life, wouldn't you agree?" Power was sexy, and Bailey did wear it everywhere that she went. She could tell that the mayor did as well. They were one in the same really. Power seekers looking for an edge to go further. It was the way the political world worked. "I think we're going to get along fine, Mr. Mayor, just fine," she said with a deciding tone to her voice."

“I certainly hope so,” Bruce answered her and continued on, “I am going to be meeting with the Sheriff’s Department in the next several days to issue a general law & order throughout the city. It’s disappointing to see crime skyrocketing throughout our schools, more specifically Drakesville High. We need to arrest these twerps that are dealing coke, meth and marijuana before some kid gets killed. I want the District Attorney’s office to prosecute them as adults. No juvie detention cell for them. They can go get their fucking ass raped for all I care. That’s power for ya, gotta love it.”

"I'll be present in the meetings," she said as more of a statement than a question. There was no way she would let anyone push her out of something like that. "I wouldn't have them punished any other way. My best will go on the case. I can promise you that. If my best aren't available, I'll try the case myself." Standing, up to stretch and look out the mayor's window she added, "And you should know, I've never lost a case. Ever. I don't intend to start now either." She had that gleam in her eyes. Bailey was not one to fail. She would succeed in whatever endeavor's came her way, even if she died in the end of it. "Yes, that is power for you, and god do I love it."

“If there was one thing I love more than my wife. It’s power, absolute power. The only way you can take it,” The Mayor walked over and stood beside his associate, “Good to know you’re on my side of the law Miss DA. Oh really?” He looked over at her. If he had a tail, it’d definitely be wagging by now, “You have never lost a case. You say never? That’s definitely power.”

The compliments of power flattered her. She loved it when other's recognized that she was truly a force to be reckoned with. "Yes. I've never lost a case. I plan to never lose a case. Failure is simply not acceptable. My new staff will most definitely be finding that out soon. A lost case is a lost job, and I hope to have the support of the Mayor's Office in this new policy. It will boost our rate of getting criminals off the street. I think we're definitely powerful enough accomplish such a trivial thing, don't you?" She turned to face him. He exuded the power that she had always craved. He was definitely going to be one hell of an ally on her side. They were very much the same. Her face broadened into a sly smile, "I think I can guarantee your support."

“My support is guaranteed. Where do I sign?” The Mayor looked at her quizzically and shook it off with laughter, “Good times. Good times Miss Harris. I want the District Attorney to be a powerhouse compared to most metropolitan areas throughout the United States. I want to show those fucktards in Dallas, San Antonio, New York and Vegas how we carry law and order here in Drakesville. After all, we have become one of the nation’s largest cities in over a decade, “But please Miss Harris. Our support must be a two way street. If it isn’t, our city is destined to fail and we cannot let that happen. We don’t want to become another New York City, Los Angeles or Vegas do we?”

"Of course. You wouldn't be able to stop me from being a powerhouse either way. It's embedded into me. I will conquer all those who oppose me in this city. Hell hath no fury like Bailey Harris when she's angry. Things will change around here. This town will be better. I think we can reform it. Though, to be honest, I'd start by reforming the Police Department. Strengthen the numbers. Add divisions to it. Then you'll be ready to tackle the drug dealers. Then I can put them away." She spoke forcefully. It was her nature to do so when she was passionate. Proving herself to this city was most important to her. She would conquer it all. Every one had just better stand back and watch. "You'll have my support as long as I have yours."

“I think we were business partners made in heaven,” Bruce looked over at her, then he looked the other way to the coffeepot. It was full of steaming hot coffee, “Excellent. The drink of the power brokers of this city is complete.”
