Melody smiled. "Nah, If I really want something done I can handle it myself, but thanks anyway." She went silent as she brought Dawn into the jumping arena and unhooked the halter nad line handing it to Sadie as she did so. She would really need concentrate on this part and Sadie knew that so she was sure that Sadie would try and be quiet during this part. Melody mounted Dawn and got up onto her making sure she was sitting properly before looking back at Sadie.

Sadie smiled softly. "Ok before you even move a step, a want you to have her go directly into a trot, try to not let her have a beat of the walk. Once she is in a trot, go around the arena on the rail a couple times. Im expecting a nice collected trot." Sadie put the whip, halter nad line outside on the grass then walked to the center of the arena

Melody followed Sadie's instructions and brought Dawn into a collected trot while circling the arena a couple of times.

Sadie watched Melody's position. "Mel straighter back and make sure your heels are down, they are your safety." Sadie evaluated every step that Dawn took. "Ok bring her into a canter I want you to go over that cross rail on the left side. Remember go into your half seat and look straight ahead. Also Dawn likes to rush so see if you can hold her back. " Not many people were able to jump Dawn well, she usually rushed the jump or refused. It would be a test for Melody

Melody sat up straighter and repositioned her heels so that they were down. She payed her focus more onto the cantering and cantered her over to the first cross rail slowly pulling back on the reines to control Dawn better. She knew that this might have been one of her tests and wanted to do really good on it.

Sadie nodded. "ok when you hold her back, dont let her have her head, you did good with that, but keep a little preasure on her adn lift yourself up." Sadie watched as they continued to canter. "Ok now you can try that two footer over there on the right. I want you to bring her into a trot then about ten paces before to a canter. Make sure you are breathing." A lot of riders forgot to breathe. Sadie had done it herself before

When Sadie said that she did realize that she had been holding her breath for a little bit. She took a deep breath and then continued lifting her weight a little bit and headed towards the two footer jump. She made sure that she was having Dawn in a trot and about ten paces before the jump bringing her into a canter and just barely making the jump.

Sadie smiled. "good, if you feel like she is holding back, give her a little nudge. Dawn can jump over four foot she can handle it. Do it again." Sadie never let her students quit till something was perfect. Sadie was a perfectionist when she rode, that was why her and Cs were so good together, he wanted to please her

Melody listened to what Sadie said and then turned Dawn around bringing her about 30 paces from the jump. She tried the same thing she had done before and this time when she felt Dawn hesitate a little bit she made sure to keep the horse going at normal speed and in the position so that she would make it this time. She wanted the jump to be perfect so that she could show Sadie just how good she could handle horses when she wanted.

Sadie nooded. "Good. Now i want you to drop your stirrups. Do a collected canter around once then do the crossrail again." Sadie knew that if Melody was able to do this, she had the correct balance and seat. Meldoy might even be able to take the three foot class at the Equestrian Team Shows.

Melody heard what Sadie said but it took her a minute to process her thoughts into what she was really doing. Once she had completely collected her thoughts and made sure she knew what she was doing she followed the instructions that had been given to her and droppings her stirrups she collected Dawn into a canter and aimed herself and the horse for the crossrail.

Sadie watched as Melody did what she said. "Hold her back a little so she doesnt rush it. remember look up, keep your seat. You need to use all of your leg strength." Sadie knew that this would not be the easiest thing in the world, but Melody had proved to her that she could handle it as she was working very well with dawn

Melody pulled on Dawns reines just the slightest bit so that the horse would get the point. After pulling on the reines she looked up and focused her eyes on the jump she was about to make. Jumping over the crossrails and almost losing her balance she knew that Sadie would probably want her to try again, that was one thing that sometimes scared her if she got a good fright while messing up the first time.

Sadie sighed softly when she realized that Melody would make a mistake. "Melody what is the first thing I told you when you first began to jump last year. If you look down, thats where your going." Sadie took one of the jumps and layed the poles on the ground. "This time, bring her over the ground poles then do the crossrail again." I want your eyes up the entire time"

Melody didn't like disappointing people but her mind just wasn't in the riding today for some reason she didn't really know. She took a deep breath to keep from getting discouraged and looked straight ahead bringing Dawn back around to where she had started. She brought Dawn over the poles and made a second attempt to the crossrails this time getting closer to her perfection but looking down at the last minute by accident.
