The whole world was against Ron, or at least it really felt so to him. One day they hail him as a hero in the paper and everyone wants to be his best friend and litterally the next day all his friends seem to want to all want to strangle him. He was failing to realize how much he was personally disowning them and blowing them off himself, which was the reason they all wanted to strangle him. Many just wanted to talk to him about things and as soon as they tried to get close he just bit their heads off and then blammed them or something, followed by leaving, which just made his friends roll their eyes and walk off.
As a result he got a lot of free time to train with basketball and football, which has done nothing but helped him, but even in the past few days his behaviour had become even more erratic, obviously the whole friends situation really starting to get to him. At the time he should have been in class but chose to go to the student lounge instead to think. This thinking was an odd form of thinking as all he did for almost a whole hour was just sit there in one position, for a guy like Ron to sit still for over half a minute it was odd, let alone a whole hour. Finally he pipped up and said something randomly to just about no one. "Just shut up."
His face looked disgruntled, and his clothing looked old and dirty, as did his hair but it wasn't as bad as it could be.

Gentier was the newbie in town but in his normal environment Gentier was the kind of guy to talk to anyone and everyone; he was a big social person. Now though, he seemed a lot like a social outcast; he hadn't really talked t too many people; hell he hadn't really talked to anyone but his girlfriend. He was reluctant to let go of his friends back in Miami, so they were all he really texted and called.
According to his schedule he had two free periods and he didn't really have anything t do so today he spent his time in the lounge, listening to R&B on his Zune and writing a song in his notebook. He looked up at the door as some girl walked in and went straight to the vending machine and once he went back to his lyrics, he didn't really lift his head again until some guy said something. He looked around for a second not sure of who he was talking to until he realized that the girl had left and it as just the two of them. What made his eyebrow raise was the simple fact that he hadn't been talking and he didn't see if the guy had a blue-tooth attached to his ear so he decided to speak up. "You talkin tah me?" He asked keeping his eyes on him and pulling one of his ear-phones out his ear in order to hear him more clearly.

At the time since he was tued out of most people around him he didn't even realize he said shut up out loud until the guy asked him if he was talking to him and it was there he realized just what he had done and how awkward it might have been for others around him. This was also making him tune more into reality and he shifted in his seat, no longer able to stay in one place and going back to his normal self there. "What?... Oh no, jus' thinkin' kin about shit that's all." He had a bit of a studder in his voice, something he was oddly gaining recently as well.
Looking at this guys face he usually reconized most, in at the very least he reconized their voice, and this guy looked new. "I haven't seen you around here before, you new to this school?" He was taking a dive there saying that. If this guy wasn't new he was at large risk of sounding embaressed and like an idiot. Sounding like an idiot was a usual thing for him though so in another way he didn't care if he sounded like one.

Gentier chuckled at his reply. He could understand where he was coming from, he said things out loud from time to time too; things that wee supposed to stay in the safety of is own mind. "It's ku man i smell ya." He turned back to his notebook but before he could put his ear-phone back in and continue writing the guy spoke out loud a guy; except this time around he was positive it was directed towards him.
"Heh yeah. Been here a lil more den a week." He answered. "You mus' be da dude dat everyone knows an knows everyone." He was that guy ones. He recognized new faces because he pretty much knew everyone. So he was in this guy' position once upon a time and he was sure that he would probably deny it. Most people did, claiming that they didn't knew everyone but knew a lot of people. He wasn't that type, he'd be quick to say he did, he liked to think of himself as the face of his high school.

"Well yeah... but it's only because of the football team and now the basketball team. Everyone wants t'know you when your a star but it's a little more hard when your down and out if you know what I mean." He was quoting an Eric Clapton song he loved there but it fit what he was trying to talk about. Right now he was convinced the world didn't even want to look at him, he failed to realize that all those rumors about him were there because he was a popular dude, not because they hated him. He hated them in full truth but tried to ignore them like it never affected him.
"You into basketball or football at all? Should check out some of their games if you can." He could join it to but he generally didn't say that to people as they got all nervous and strange if he asked them to join a team. He only asked if they were a close friend that he knew was good at a sport he wanted them to join, like Vik for hockey. "Or hockey to, I get some good fights in that game." Sure he was playing hockey for the wrong reasons but he had fun and that's what counted.

Gentier nodded at his statement. He played both football and basketball back home, he came third in state in his quarterback position and came first in state in the shooting guard category. He was always racking up points for the Blue Devils; shooting threes and charging it in. When he moved out here though, he had already missed try-outs for basketball and football season was w over. He'd most likely try out next year. "Yeah well, where i'm frum, dere's ya crew, you know, da people you actually chill an kick it wit, den dere's everyone else. People ya talk tah in class an joke round an shit but you'ont really kick it wit em or nutin like dat." He shrugged, "People like tah start shit dat's why i'ont go round trynah be best friends wit everyone ya get me?" He put a definite line between his friends, his homies and hi enemies. Sure he knew everyone but he wasn't close to everyone and didn't try to be. He wasn't one to trust everyone, hell he didn't even trust his friends sometimes.
"Yeah i play both. But i din't make it out 'ere in anuff time tah try out fah basketball so i'mma play next year.' He raised his eyebrow at his statement and chuckled lightly giving him a smirk. "Ya'll good? Cuz i'ont watch suck ass teams play games." In Miami, the gym was always packed, the stands were always packed at every game because it wasn't just normal high school basketball and football. Step teams and dance squads showed heir stuff; drum lines got everyone out of their seats at halftime and the cheer-leading squad were doing kicks and leading school cheers behind the baseline. It was crazy; like having a pep-rally every game. Not only that, but Dade County School District had the tendency to bend the rules a little bit; bringing the handles and skill of street basketball to every game. At football games, there was always something big happening, whether someone ran a kick-off for a touchdown or someone took a big hit from the line-backers. More importantly, everyone had skill and whatever game they were laying was in their heart so it wasn't about watching someone play because their dad wanted them to or because they wanted to lose weight, it was because they lived to do it; it was apart of their lives. Winning was a serious deal, and every school was every other school's rival so games were close and when the hoe team came back with a win it was talked about for days.

Shrugging like it was no big deal, he had ways to help his new found friend out. "If your any good I can talk to a few people and get you on the team, but you gotta prove your worth first chu know? I don't wanna be getting the coach doing me a big favor and find out you suck ass. You can see where I'm comming from." The basketball team was good here but it wasn't at the full potential it could be. Ron was by far the best player, and a really good player with skolarships waiting for him once he graduated, but the point guards needed a lot of work on and so did the whole team in general. Most were just doing it as filler time for when the football season ended on them.
"We're pretty good haha, I'm the team captain and we won the last game... I got the most points. Not to be cocky" he was good at being cocky though "But I'm the best player they got right now. And that's saying a lot but even still we could use a few more players. Everyone likes going to the games but nobody cares to try out of the team, chu know what I'm talking about?" The coach owed him a favor anyway since he didn't allowed one of his other friends on the team, this friend wasn't that great though and Ron was blinded to see that so the coach said he'd owe it back to him when the right time came.

He smirked and shrugged his shoulders, changing the song on his music player, "I average 32.3 points a game an shoot 96% uv my foul shots homie. Do da math homie dat's bout 42% uv a team's average points a game." It didn't sound like much but in basketball terms it meant alot. If they scored 100 points a game, that meant that himself alone made 42 of those points. That's damn near half, and that's just him alone. "It all depends on how ya'll play ball out 'ere homie. If ya'll play word fah word by da rules, den i suck. Cuz where i'm frum, we bend da rules. I play Miami style."
He raised his eyebrow and rested his chin on the palm of his hand, his elbow on the table. "How ya'll play ball out 'ere?" When they played the suburban schools back home they were all technical. It was like the coaches were playing the game and not them. They always took plays and bent them given the situation, so they looked like they knew what they were doing at all times. At the same time though, they played ball in harmony and always attacked the rim, whether you were a point guard or a forward.

"We need more scorers on the team." He was glad to talk to somebody that may even be better then him on the team strangly enough, probibly not fully sinking into it yet, either that or he saw strong potential in doing even better if a few better players got on the team. "But we ARE a team and I hope you realize as a team you can't be the ball hog. If you live up the name you're saying there then you and me can make a vicious team, but if your more keen on showing off, showng that your better then us then... you can go fuck yourself." He just realized that if the guy was the best on the team he would be screwed out of a lot of things in a lot of ways, expecially when the scouts came. "Keep in mind who's getting you in the team, TEAM."
Getting up he walked over towards Gentier. "I'm Ron by the way.." He then put his hand out to shake. "So what do you say? You willing to join our team so we can kick some ass?" They were doing that already but without Ron they'd be nothing and he knew that all to well.

Gentier laughed and shook his head, "A ball hog is someone who keeps da ball to himself an don't make his shots. I'mma shootin guard, if i can make a shot i'mma make da shot, if i can't i'mma give it to da posts or someone else who can. Dat's my job." He was supposed to be th primary scorer of the team besides the post players who were supposed to hold it down at the baseline. Gentier knew when and when not to go for a shot, he knew when and when not to fast break he knew when and when not to go for a lay up. If he couldn't find a way to sink it, he was going to give the ball to someone else who could. "I ain't betta den nobody, i'ont think i'm betta den nobody. I jus know my shit jus like everyone else should." He laughed as he put emphasis on the word team. His showing off wouldn't pay him in the long run even if that was what he was out to do. Everyone had to be on the same level because if not, even with him scoring big they would still lose. Time would come over and over again where he can't do anything with the ball besides dribble it and if he called for help or a pick or something and no one was there to help then the whole team would be doomed. He was a team player who simply expected everyone to be on the same level.
He looked up at him as he walked over to him and held out his hand. he took it firmly and gave it a shake before moving it to his notebook and closing it. "Gentier." He said simply keeping his eyes up on him. He smirked at his proposal and gave it a little thought. "Awe what da hell. I ain't got shit tah lose." He said with a laugh. Tell me when tah be dere I'll bring some shorts an show ya how tah do thangs. Oh, an i got dibs awn numba 23."[/b] It was his number back home, he considered it to be his lucky number besides his football number; number 8.

It was unfortunate when he met people like Gentier with more rare names as he forgot them in a matter of minutes, but he wasn't going to say that part out loud. "Gentier... got it." As said before he didn't get that at all but he was just going with the flow and would have to work on remembering his name over time. "And 23 isn't taken, you can take it, saying the coach will allow you in. But again if you prove your worth then you'll be in no problem. We're looking for a few more good players so it shouldn't be a problem."
"Your comming in a good year though, we should go all the way to state this year if we keep up our record." And again if this guy was at good as he said he was then they were bound to make it there no problem, which they had never quite done before, at least to Ron's knowledge... which wasn't that much really. He forgot history facts like that quickly if it didn't consern him. The only way he'd remember was if he was on the team and he was never no the team when they went to state. "I'm Ron... whats your last name Carpio? I need to tell the coach and shit. You in any gym class?" Registering him would make it a lot easier if the guy took the right classes and already met the teachers to begin with.
