It was early Saturday when Cade first rose form his slumber. He was groggy at first and all that he could possibly think of was coffee. It was usually the first thing on his mind most morning. The need for the caffeine was especially strong this morning. Resigning to the fact that he couldn't stay in bed all day, Cade grudgingly got up and went to his bathroom, thinking maybe a hot shower would help him a little bit, at least until he could get his fix. The water felt somewhat good on him, though not as good as he would have wanted. Back in his room, Cade rummaged through his closet deciding what to wear. He chose a casual looking suit, as he had grown so used to wearing suits.
He was out of his cabin soon after and into his car, as quickly as he could have been. A day in town would be the perfect thing for him at the moment, coming off of long week at work. Starbucks would likely be his first stop, that way he could get in his daily tea and coffee all at the same time. It would be most refreshing. Coffee and tea were a way of life for Cade, he couldn't imagine having to live without either one of them.
Pulling into the parking lot of Starbucks, Cade found a spot near the door. He went inside and made an order for his usual, a White Chocolate Mocha, an Orange Passion Tea, and a Chai Latte. He ordered a slice of orange coffee cake to go with them. Once his order came up, he took them to a table in the corner, where he unpackaged the cake, tore it in half and began to eat it.

Ashley hurried into Starbucks, her guitar on her back. She had an appointment with a record label that afternoon and was running late. "Can I have a tall, skinny mocha please." she said to the girl behind the counter. She had her bag over her arm and it took her a few minutes to find the right change. Finally she handed over the money, by which time her coffee was there. She picked it up gratefully and headed over to a small table. She placed the cup down carefully then put down her bag and guitar. Once she'd sat down she took out of her bag a notepad, full of song lyrics. She put it on the table but as she did so, she knocked over the cup of boiling hot coffee, all over the pad and her lap. "Crap!" She cried, jumping up.

Cade was sitting silently as Ashlee entered the store and made her order. He watched, as he was a notorious people watcher, as she sat down at a nearby table. It was quite apparent that she was a musician, and one with the talent of songwriting. So many of the younger stars didn't write there own songs. Cade found it admiring when someone did. It took one back to the times of Stevie Nicks, and some of the other great songwriters. He jumped up with napkins to help as he watched her coffee spill all over her and her pad. That was actually the thing he went wfor first, trying to mop everything off the pad. "Here," he said handind her all of his napkins, "I think you'll need these more than me."

Even though the coffee had burned her, all she cared about was the notepad. She snatched it up and opened it. The paged were soaked and stained brown. The penciled words were smudged and almost impossible to make out. She turned a few more pages, hopeful that some had survived but they hadn't. The pad was soaked through. "No," she cried desperately. "My songs..." She'd planned to give them to the record label manager but she might as well call and cancel now. SHe had nothing to show him and he'd clearly said he didn't have time to hear her sing today.

Cade felt sorry for her. It must be horrible to lose something like that. He wasn't creative enough to know what it was like. He could in some ways say that he was very happy for that fact. He didn't have to suffer the heart ache of making it and then losing it just as fast if not faster than it had been produced. He'd stick to his thing, solving those mysteries, that was what he was good at. "I'm sorry, Miss. Is there anything that I can do for you?"

She put down the notepad and looked up at Cade. "No," she said in a meloncholy voice. "I don't think there's anything that can be done." She looked down at herself and laughed. "I look like I've wet myself. Great." She sighed and picked up the napkins he'd given her. There was coffee everywhere but she tried to mop it up anyway.

Duncan had been at the store since opening at 5:30 in the morning. He quickly made him a Doppio (two shot) Americano Espresso and shot it back. It was one of the many perks of working at Starbucks, free coffee. Coffee was one of those things he couldn’t live with out along with Dr Pepper. He placed the cup in the trash while his eyes canned the store. There were hardly customers except for two. The woman had split something on her notebook and herself and had gone berserk. He grabbed two clean clothes from the table and walked from behind the counter over to Ashley, “Here’s a cloth for you.”
He began cleaning the table for her to sit down. He looked over his shoulder to her, “Do you want a coffee of the day on the house?”
(OOC: I apologize if this is a 'closed thread', but since I work at Starbucks - I thought I'd give a helping hand)
