Marinna laid back onto the warm plaid blanket she had brought with her. Tonight, like almost any other night, was perfect for looking at the stars in the sky from the park. It had been one of Marinna's favorite things to do. Starting as a tradition with her and one of her past nannys, Marinna loved coming here at night when she was younger.
It seemed as though the stars helped her to reflect back on the entire day. Maybe someday, she would share this spot with someone she truly cared about. But for now, she only shared it with those who used her. Boys, who were only after one thing and of course, she gave in. It isn't like she doesn't get anything out of it.
Playing with the heart on her necklace, she began to think way back. About her father, how he died. Sadly, Marinna didn't have many memories of him. Seeing as she was only six years old and he was always gone, but she'll never be able to forget how shaken up her mother was afterwards.
"Man, nobody ever comes to the park this late," she said aloud to herself as she looked around. The swings on the other side of the park were moved by a gentle breeze, almost as if someone has just gotten off. Brushing a hand through her wavy, blonde hair, she began to button up the top buttons of her shirt. It was a bit chilly. After wrapping herself up in the blanket, she looked back up at the stars. What a beautiful night.

The light breeze whistled through her light brown hair as she galloped through the park on her mother's horse Starlight. She had been riding since the earlier morning and was about to be on her way home. She decided to go through the park to get there. She watched the stars in the night sky as Starlight slowly walked on the path.

Marinna heard galloping in the distance. Ker-lump,Ker-lump. It appeared to be getting louder and closer. Marinna had heard stories about Drakesville's own headless horseman. He was said to galloped around in the dead of night when nobody else was around. Marinna had never seen him herself, but some of her friends had.
The headless horseman was said to have once been just like you and I. Then, on one fatal night, that all changed. As he was riding to his lady love, Ladina, a rival man began to chase her. This other man was also in love with the beautiful Ladina and hoped to have her as his bride by sunset. But, his opponent was thinking the same thing.
As the two rushed to Ladina's home, the horses galloped faster. The faster the horse's went, the bumpier the ride had gotten. Faster, Faster, through the trees, they went. Up and down, up and down. Suddenly, as the first man was riding through, his horse reared back, the man fell onto a sharp branch at his neck and well.. you know the rest.
Marinna began to shake a bit. The galloping was almost right where she could see it. "Please, don't kill me. Please, don't kill me," she began to plea in a soft, shaken voice. She was terrified, who knew what this monsterous other form could do to her. Under the blanket, she flew as fast as she could. Almost as if she was trying to hide. If only she had realized it was just a girl on a horse, maybe she wouldn't be hiding under a blanket, shaking and pleading for her life.

Ella stopped Starlight when she yeard someone talking. "Whoa!" she said, coming to a stop in front of the girl hiding under a blanket. She slid off Starlight and kneeled down next to the girl. "Are you okay?" she asked, shaking her.

Marinna pulled her head out from underneath the blanket to spot some stupid girl standing in front of her. "Oh, it was just you," she replied as if the girl was nothing. Standing up, she dusted off her jeans and adjusted her top. With a scowl she looked towards the girl.
"What the hell are you doing out here in the middle of the night on a horse?" she questioned, "Do you think you can just go galloping about anywhere you desire on a horse? Think again, honey."
Marinna was infuriated, not because she had been wrong, but because this girl had just brought her to an all-time high in humiliation. "Besides, don't you know this is a peaceful place for people to come. Not a place for them to be worrying about headless horsemen." She rolled her eyes as she picked up her blanket and began folding it. "Thanks for ruining my night!"

Ella took a step back at the girls remark. "What are you talking about? I was just cutting through the park to get home and a headless horseman?" Ella started laughing, "I'm sorry, but that is just funny. Anyway, I'm Ella Carlyle and you are?" she asked, as she stopped laughing.

"I don't know how that comes off as funny," Marinna exclaimed, "It's a true story and next time you think about scaring me with one of your pranks, you better think twice." Marinna let out a huff and continued to gather her belongings.
"I really don't care what your name is, you're already on my bad side, hon." As she picked up her phone and slid it into her pocket she said, " You must be new, so let me clear this up for you. My name is Marinna Neilson and I'm not one to be messed with. I don't appreciate anyone trying to pull one over on me. So trust me, there will be payback, expect it." With that, she turned on one heel and began walking the other way.

Ella just stood there, confused. She then just got back on Starlight and headed back home.

"Stupid girl," Marinna mumbled to herself. Shrugging it off she began to wonder what everyone else was doing. Or maybe even her mother was home. With the noise of her white ballet flats breaking the silence of the night air, she left the park and headed home.
[End Thread, I think.]
