Jared walked into the store. He usually didn't come to the mall. He didn't really like big crowds and the mall was usually packed with anoying high school kids. Today was no different and he had to push his way past some young girls faffing over playboy merchandise. He rolled his eyes and made his way to the back of the store where the discount band tshirts were kept. They were the ones that were either damaged or just hadn't been sold. Jared had bought a number of tees from there and right now he was on the lookout for a Green Day one. He'd just sold a painting so for once he had cash to burn but instead of splashing out, he decided to stick to the cheap items. He'd just found a shirt he liked and had gone to take it from the rail when a small white hand grabbed it from the other side. "Hey!" he said indignantly, heading around the end of the rail to see who it was.

"Hi..." Dae had walked into Spencers about ten minutes ago and was looking through the shirts, she didn't really want any particular one, she just wanted to be able to find a new shirt she liked. It was impossible for her to find shirts that she actually liked around here because of her pickiness towards any one shirt. She was taking a shirt off the shelf when someone on the other side of the rack had tried to grab the same one as her. They were walking around to this side now and she was watching them walk around the corner of the rack to reveal a guy who looked a little bit older than her.

As soon as Jared rounded the corner of the rack he saw the girl. "Oh, sorry." He shuffled his feet awkwardly. He motioned to the tshirt. "So you, er, like HIM?" he asked. He assumed she did seeing as it was a HIM tshirt she'd picked out.

Dae looked up from the shirt that she had been looking at when he came around the corner. "Thats okay, yea I do." She didn't know who the guy was but she had definitely never seen him before and she didn't know why he was talking to her.

Jared looked a little disappointed. That was the only shirt he'd liked and he doubted he'd get it back now. He sighed and started looking through the rail again, standing next to her. He glance up and smiled, to show there was no hard feelings. "I'm Jared," he offered.

She smiled a little, he obviously really wanted the shirt. She was picky when it came to shirts but she knew it wasn't the only one in the store that she would like. "You can have the shirt if you want, and my name's Dae. It's a nickname, that is." She hated saying her real name when introducing herself to people. It was just such a unique name that she felt so weird saying it out loud to strangers sometimes.

Jared glanced at the t-shirt in her hands. "Nah, you keep it. I'm just a being a baby." He grinned. "Dae? What's that short for?" he asked. Jared never introduced himself with his nickname. Marie had called him Jar jar for as long as he could remember but he wasn't too keen on others doing the same.

She looked at him. "Faerydae. It stands for Faerydae." She didn't say anything else and went quiet, continuing to look through the t-shirts and wondering what he would say about her response to his question. Some people thought her name was the coolest thing in the world and some people thought it was really strange.

Jared didn't take his eyes off of her. "That's one of the most beautiful name's I've ever heard," he said, smiling. "It's really unique." Jared loved interesting names. He always had. He'd once read a wonderful book in which the heroine was called Shae Le Fae and Dae's name reminded him of that.

Dae was a little surprised when he heard his remark. "Really? Thanks" She smiled with relief that he didn't think her name was stupid. But she laughed a bit and kept looking through the t-shirts stopping after she was bored and leaning up against the rack as she faced him.

"Yea, seriously," he replied, smiling, before looking back at the t-shirts. He knew he wouldn't find anything else he liked so he stepped away from the rail and shoved his hands in his pockets, shuffling his feet. "Would you, er, like to grab a coffee with me?" he asked tentatively, hoping she'd say yes.

"Sure, but seriously I'm not going to get this shirt, so you really should take it." She grinned with a little ounce of sly to it. She really wasn't going to buy the shirt, she just didn't feel like buying anything now anyway and it would be more fun to buy a shirt when she had her friends with her. She liked having other people's opinions when she bought something.

Jared chuckled and nodded, taking the t-shirt from her. "Thanks," he said as they walked over to the counter. He payed for the shirt and took the bag that the cashier handed him. He smiled at her and began walking out of the shop. "So, where do you want to get coffee?"

She walked over with him to the counter and leaned against the side of it while she waited for him. "Your welcome" A small grin grew over her face when she said this, she liked making people happy. "I don't really care" She really didn't care or even know what coffee places that they had around here. She walked behind him following out of the store.

He pondered for a moment before smiling at her. "There's a starbucks down in the food court. Want to head down there?" He wasn't trying to flirt with her, he hoped she realised that. He just wanted to be friendly. Too often he tried to make friends with girls and either them or their boyfriends thought he was making a move.
