"Yea, they work." She claimed this after she had walked around a little and was satisfied. "You know you can tell me your opinion. It actually matters a lot to me." It really did matter to her a lot, she wanted to know what he thought. Of course neither Trey nor Patrick would give there opinion because they were both being stupid boys and still fighting over her. She knew that if she asked Trey his opinion he would give it to her but Patrick on the other hand probably wouldn't. Maybe that was why Trey hated him so much, he's just so stupid. Jackson would have said she deserved more and Patrick was his best friend.

He paused and looked at her as if she had said the wrong thing. He stuck both of his hands with his pockets and fiddled with the keys in his right one before he came to a conclusion on what he wanted to say. "Aaight if you insist... If ya wanna know a truth i think dey're fightin fah two dif'ren reasons. I think Trey knows he can treat ya better an give ya watcha want an need a digg? I think Patrick think he entitled tah be witcha cuz he done known ya fah so long. A i think da only reason why he's fightin is cuz he can't stand to see ya wit Trey jus lie he couldn't stand tah see me wit you. I ain't trynah tell ya who ah choose but i'm trynah tell ya what i see, what i know an what Trey tells me. He's diggin awn you an it may not be as long as whatshisface but his feelin' are stronger. You do what's best fah you. I can't tellya wha tah do cuz it's awn you." He cared about her and would look out for her being her ex guy and friend. Trey was his best friend and everything but that wasn't why he was telling her to reconsider being with Trey. With him it was more than a one night stand, and despite of what people thought of him the guy wanted to treat her right. In his eyes, that was what she deserved.

"Okay..that actually makes a lot of sense. Patrick does kind of treat me like crap and anyway I know Trey worries bout me." She looked up at him from where she was sitting, this shit was really getting on her last nerve. She had to stop them and do something about it before she got caught in the middle, or worse, one of them ended up dead. The fighting was definitely physical, there was no doubt about it being physical, and if it got any worse then what had happened to Patrick, one of them would be dead.

Gentier shrugged and glanced around the store. Things were beginning to die down for the time being. Once the high school kids got up though it would start up again for the afternoon. "Ya gotta know who ya wanna be wit girl an let it be known who ya wanna be wit. I'mma tellya now tho, you an i both know da if ya choose Trey an keep dealin wit Patrick i can garauntee ya dat it's gunna be another me an you, an all da time ya speandin wit havin dis decision on ya brain is gunna go tah waste. So, ya know what i'm sayin, do what ya think's best fah you. I ain't got say in dat no more. Ya wanna wear a shoes while i ring up da box?" He planned on giving her his employee discount without telling her though. He was too nice of a guy sometimes.

Melody didn't know how to respond to what he had said and she just sat there silently for a minute. "Yea, I'll just wear the shoes." She made sure they were tied tight enough and put her flip flops in the box that the basketball shoes had come out of. Picking up the box she stood and waited for Gentier to lead the way to the counter since he was closer.

"Aaight." He said rushing off to grab the other shoe he handed it to her and took her sandals into the shoe box. He trusted her, she wasn't going to run off with the shoes. What kept his quiet though was her reaction to what he had said. She knew him as the type to speak his mind, so it didn't bother him that he hadn't held back his comments. She DID ask. But he wondered what he had said had hit a soft spot for her. He didn't know how she felt about him, but he knew his feelings were still there, slowly yet surely fading. He stayed quiet about all of that though, he never wanted to hurt her in any way, friends or otherwise.
He walked behind the desk and scanned the bar-code, typing in his employee code to give her the 10% discount. "70 bucks even." He said looking up at her from the register, "Ya wanna bag?"

Melody took her debit card out of her purse and handed it to him. "Nah, I'm good, bags are for losers." She laughed a little and grabbed the shoe box off of the counter. While she waited for him to return her card she looked around the store a little, it was still fairly crowded and the little boy who had cried earlier was now grinning like he had just been given the biggest lollipop ever.

"Heh. aaight, whatever you say." He had to type in a few things n clear some things before he scanned the card and glanced around the store once more to make everything was fine. He w the shift leader, li a step below the manager for each shift. So it was his job to make sure nothing bad happened in the store, if something did, he would have to take the heat.
He slid her back her card and receipt before he leaned over the counter, placing his chin on the palm of his hand, his elbow on the counter. "I wish i could holla atcha a lil bit more but it's busy an i gotta keep hit in line so I'll tellya what. How bout we break in dem shoes in a b-ball game wen i get off. You open?" He raised his eyebrow at her awaiting her reply.

Melody watched Gentier swipe her card and look around a bit. She let out a small yawn. It wasn't that she was really tired but her body thought that she was and it was beginning to annoy her since it happened so often. "Sure" She replied to Gentier's question and smiled. "I know you gotta look after the store." She understood that his job was important and it didn't bug her at all, she needed to do a little more shopping before the day was over anyway.
