Gentier loved working the morning ad afternoon shifts on Saturdays because he was the first to get his hands on the newest pair of Jordans. It took a good chunk out of his paycheck but he didn't really care because he'd get it all back in another paycheck. It all worked out, nicely ad the best part was that he received an employee's discount so he ended up saving his own money in the future. He spoke in a small group with his fellow employees, all looking like clones due to their uniform. Their name-tags helped tell them apart but with Gentier's new 8s on his feet, it was alot more obvious. He usually had hat on his head but they wouldn't let him wear one at work so he had a little grease in his hair to help it stand up in messy spikes. H was never one to stand in th mirror two hours doing his hair, it took a comb and five minutes tops to get the same effect. They waited on everyone to run in, in hype of the new Jordan's. Because they had just opened ten minutes ago, they weren't expecting anyone but a few teens who were practically sitting outside waiting for them to open but once the clock struck ten it as going to be a busy morning.

Melody wasn't really interested in the new pair of Jordans but she needed a new pair of basketball shoes for her new season coming up and this was going to be a tough season if she didn't get a new pair before it started. She was waiting for the store to open which was supposed to be in five minutes or so. Standing outside the store it wasn't too cold but she had on her most recent pair of flip flops and blue jeans with a t-shirt. A sweat-shirt covered her arms as she continued to wait for the store to open.

Gentier looked down at his watch as the clock struck 10 and unlocked the front doors signaling to all waiting that they were open, he went to the back as everyone began taking their spots in the store for anyone who needed help getting a pair of shoes in their size or finding a pair. He pulled out the new arrivals in the most popular sizes and came back out setting the sample sizes on the front desk for everyone to see as they came in.
And that everyone was a lot. At least 20 people which was a little unusual. As he finished and glanced around the store, employees kept going back to the shoes and coming back out with the same boxes. He spotted Melody in all of the frantic movement and he knew what she wanted would be a little different from what everyone else wanted. So he decided to help her out. That and the fact that se was MELODY. "Ya need any help ma'am?" He asked her with a smile as he stood besides her. He liked to play around with her, and found he funny this time in treating her like a customer.

Melody looked up to see Gentier walking over. "Why yea sir, I would like a new pair of basketball shoes." She smiled as he joked around with her.

"Well ya got any ideas uv whatcha lookin fah? Brands, styles or anything 'long dem lines?" He asked her putting his foot on the bench next to them and crossing his arms laying them over his knee. There were so many choices from so many brands, but his job was to help her find a pair that suited her.

She thought for a moment about what her answer should be. Her old shoes were white and she got really sick of looking at white all of the time so she wanted something darker this time. "Maybe blue ones or black ones. For the brand I don't really care as long as there comfortable and suit my needs." She looked around at the ones they carried and saw a few pairs she might be interested in but waited for his response before actually moving anywhere.

He rubbed his chin at her request. He had to think off all the basketball shoes they carried that came in blue or black and woman's sizes. Before he could answer though he noticed she was looking at the shelves and instead he made his life easier. "How bout dis. Ya tell me whatcha like awn da shelves an..." Before he could finish his sentence a baby started crying and his mom started yelling at him. Black people and their habits of bringing their drama into the public. Bad habit. He had to change his sentence with a laugh. "...I'mma go take care uv dis right quick Melody. I'll be RIGHT back." He hurried over to the mother and child trying to get them situated. Turned out the little boy wanted a pair of shoes that cost too much for the mother and got upset. Go figure.

Melody laughed a little and watched Gentier walk away to help the mother with her son. It was true they were always bringing there drama with them. She smiled as she stood up and walked over to the shelves to look at the shoes and see if there were any she was interested in. She took a sample shoe off the rack looking it over carefully. It was black with a blue nike sign on the side. That would work she thought to herself. She looked at the price tag to see how much they were and they were only 85 dollars which she had. Her mom had given her a hundred to buy herself a new pair of basketball shoes and anything else she could buy with the extra.

Gentier didn't know what it was but he was but he found it easy to be a convincing person. The mother was stubborn, she wasn't going outside of her budget so he had to convince the boy into wearing a pair that was. Which was fairly easy. Throw in few "You wont see any other kids wearing these" and he was set. He told another one of the employees who had just finished to ring them up and came back to Melody who seemed to had made up her mind. "Aaight ya need me tah go get dem in your size?" He asked her as he got to her. to ask if se liked those was pointless, if she didn't she wouldn't be looking closer at them.

Melody looked back up at Gentier as he walked back over to her. "Yea, sure. I'm and 8.5" She would be an 8 but unfortunately she had wide feet and it was easier just to get larger sizes than to get the sizes made for people with wide feet. She put the shoe back on its rack and sat down on the closest bench nearby.

"Aaight. Be right back." He took a good look at the shoe and took it's name into his head before walking off towards the back-room. Because it was getting busier and busier by the minute people stopped him a couple of times for his help and because they were all asking for the same thing, he took heir orders like a waiter. H came back out with 4 boxes, three of the same shoe and Melody's box. Because it was against their policy to give out the right shoe he had to make a stop a he front desk and leave the shoe boxes and the right shoe in them and only take the left shoe back to the customer's. His last stop was Melody and he actually stayed by her, untying the shoe for her foe handing it to her. "Aaight dere ya go. A size 8 point 5." He thought that was a pretty big shoe size for a girl her size but it didn't bother him too much. Guys would tell him he had a pretty small shoe size for a guy his size. "S how's everything goin witcha Melody?" He asked her glancing at the front desk quickly to see if anyone was trying to be sneaky and run off with th other shoe.

Melody took off her flip flop and waited for Gentier to hand her the shoe. The store had some weird policy where the customer could only try on the left shoe but she didn't really mind. She took the shoe from him and put it on her foot tying it up as she answered him. "It's okay. Some stupid boys have just been fighting over me." She knew that now that she said this he would want to know what the whole thing was about but she didn't care because it was really hard for her to lie to him, ever.

His eyebrows raised high as he spoke and he let out a laugh while crossing his arms. It sparked a little jealousy in him; he sill had feelings for her but he pushed all of that aside and kept himself from showing his jealousy. "Yeah? Dat sound familiar." If it had anything to do with Patrick he felt sorry for the guy, considering he had to go through the same exact shit awhile back. "Well what's da whole sit'iation?"

Melody looked up from her foot to Gentier. "Well Patrick and me are kind of dating now, well at least I'm pretty sure we still are. I have this friend Trey, and Patrick gets really jealous when I'm around him. It's kind of dumb but he thinks that I like Trey as more than a friend. I don't though. He's just a friend." She looked back down to her shoe and made sure it was completely tied before standing up and walking around a bit to see what she thought of them.

Gentier frowned and looked up and around the store wanting someone to call for his attention or something. Why did he have to ask? Why could he not, not give a shit like he would for anyone else? He had girlfriend who he felt alot for, so why the hell was his tripping over this girl? They weren't going to get back together and he was willing to catch case over killing Patrick. Was it the thought that Patrick had beaten him? The fact that a fucking raciest redneck beat him in a game of hardball? Probably. It was either that or the simple fact that he was always going to be a tad jealous of her boyfriends considering their relationship got fucked over on stupid shit. He'd like to think it was just because h hated the name "Patrick" nonetheless the guy named after it. In any case, he had to say something, he couldn't just dodge her; he felt bad enough for having to leave her at the party.
"Heh, You'ont wanna know my opinion awn dat--Shoes workin fah ya?" He decided to change the subject rather quickly. It was obvious to him why Patrick hated Trey and it surprised him how she didn't see it. He didn't want to get into all of that though; it was none of his business. But in this situation unlike others that black people liked to apply the saying to just to be retarded it was because he was black. It was stupid, he was stupid it was best just o sum it up that way and leave it alone. He lifted his eyebrow ad watched her walk around a bit in the shoe while putting his hands in his pockets.
