Gunner walked into the resturant and nodded to a little oriental lady. She asked him how many and he calmly replied one. Being in the city sucked. There were girls everywhere but they liked a sports car and a polo shirt. His cowboy ways were just too much for city girls.
His cowboy hat was in his hands and he made his way to the table she showed him. He sat there easy proud of himself. He'd worn his Sunday wranglers and a nice blue button up shirt. He ordered a Coke as he debated on what to eat

Marinna made her way into the restaurant, her mid-thigh length pink dress flowing as she moved. Her mother, as usual, was working late and Marinna had taken it upon herself to find somewhere to eat for the night. Jade Garden, just happened to be one of her favorite places in all of Drakesville. Despite the fact that she had to drive half way across the city to get there, the food made up for that in tastiness. The tiny bell above the door rang to let someone know she was there.
Smells of carefully prepared dishes flowed to her nose. A tiny, older lady walked over to her, "How many?" "Flying solo again, ma'am," Marinna replied. The lady shook gave a sad look and shook her head. Then, she led Marinna to her table. They passed by a few different tables on the way with a few colorful characters. One, a woman with her husband and two children. Another, two dumbstruck lovers and the last, a lonely boy who looked much older than her, but rather cute. Sighing, she took a seat at her table. "Drink?" the lady asked. "Diet Coke, please." The woman nodded and walked away.

Gunner saw a pretty blonde walk in. He had never been one for dumb blonde, but he still had to admit she was sexy. She didn't even really look dumb. She was alone and he hoped he caught her eyes. He sat up a little straighter. He was glad one of his ship mates had recomended this place
The oriantal lady brought back his drink and he nodded his thanks. She asked him what he wanted to eat and he smiled as he finally made up his mind
"Cung pow chicken and shrimp fried rice." He handed her the menu and she didn't even bother to write down his order. It wasn't that long or that complicated. He then sat his cowboy hat beside him on the table as he tried to figure out a way to get the blonde to talk to him

Marinna sat there, thinking. She was still curious about that boy. She'd never seen him before. Then again, no one person could possibly know every soul that inhabited Drakesville. Despite the fact that Marinna could more than likely name off every man/teenage boy, due to her extreme "popularity". 'I'm sure I must have passed him by in the street or something,' she thought to herself. She smiled as the lady brought out her drink.
"What you like?" she asked in her accent. "Hmm..," she began, "Perhaps i'll have the beef and broccoli with white rice." "Okay," she replied and began to walk away. "Wait!" Marinna yelled to grab the lady's attention. "Yes?" the lady asked turning around. "Could you have my food brought out to that handsome man's table?" she asked as she stood up and walked over towards him. The lady walked nodded and walked into the kitchen. Marinna touched the back of the chair opposite the man, "This seat taken?"

Well it seemed the lady had solved the problem for him. He stood up and grabbed the chair pulling it out for her. His manners hadn't been lost in this big city splendor. He smiled easy glad to see that he had caught her eye. He hadn't been able to come up with any grand plan to attract her attention
"Howdy ma'am." His brown eyes shined as he took his seat again. He ran and hand through his hair and watched that pretty face waiting for her to speak back. He hadn't been this close to such a pretty lady in a while, though she did seem a bit young

Marinna took a seat in the chair, quite surprised at the gesture. Not many of the men in Drakeville were this polite. When he opened his mouth to speak, she knew why. He was southern boy, that explained a lot. Southern boys had manners and really knew how to treat a lady with repect.
Marinna smiled at him as he took his seat again. "Hello," she replied, "I noticed you were here alone and I thought I'd come over to join you. I'm Marinna Neilson, and you are?" After putting the straw into the glass, she took a sip of her drink and waited for a response.

"Gunner Riley ma'am." Gunner too took a drink of his Coke. He was thirsty and drained almost half of the glass. He then sat it down and was thanking himself for wearing something nice today. He watched the way she moved and was impressed. She seemed almost like his boss' niece. She had been a rich socialite and he wondered what type of girl this was
"I saw you walk in and I debated on talkin to you. I haven't seen many pretty girls around ehre so you of course caught my eye." He decided to try to be charming, but he seemed a little too honest at times. He didn't dress his words up but said them plainly and without an ceremony

"Well, nice to meet you Gunner," she said as she fiddled with the straw in her drink. Marinna was trying to patiently wait for her food, but the smells of the restaurant were making her even more hungry by the minute. She took a hand and tossed the left side of her curled hair over her shoulder. Marinna looked at Gunner, she was still trying to think of if she had ever seen him before.
"Well, I decided to come out tonight and grab a bite to eat. My mom is working late, like always," she explained taking another sip of her drink, "She's some type of corporate representative for some company around here. I saw you but I wasn't sure if you were waiting on someone or not, but I just decided to come over and check it out for myself. So, are you from around here?"

"Someone seems antsey." He smiled easy as he laened forward. Of course she was a little rich girl, but from the way she talked she didn't have a daddy. There was both sad, and a little convenient for him. She seemed a little young to be talking to Gunner but he enevr objected to company
"I was just waitin for you Marianna. I was bown in Tennessee but I moved to Texas three years ago. I was a ranch hand on a part of the ol' King ranch but I came here to make a little more money." Gunner saw her hair flip and could help but feel his heart skip a beat. Girls were always making those subtle moves that made men's hearts stop. She looked really pretty when she did that and he could help but imagine his hands running through that pretty blonde hair

Marinna laughed a little bit at his comment. "I'm just a little bit hungry," she admitted as she looked down at her glass. Taking a finger, she twirled a little piece of her hair. Something about the way he talked drove her crazy. She didn't mind that he looked a little older than her and probably was. "So, how old are you?"
"Marinna, it's Marinna," she said with a slight giggle. "So, a real Tennessee boy, huh? I was born in Virginia but moved here when I was six. My dad was involved in a plane crash and well, died. My mom, went into withdrawal and then moved here for a new beginning and here I am." She gestured at herself, after noticing a bit of cleavage hanging out, she adjusted her top a bit to fix it.

"Well your just gonna tell me your whole story then aren't ya honey?" He was distracted by her twirling her hair and forgot to check his accent. He tried not to speak too country around girls but sometimes it just came through. Something was so sexy about the way she did her hair around her finger
"I'm sorry Marinna." He hadn't meant to mispronounce her name but when she talked he watched her lips more than he listened to her words. He felt sorry about her daddy but didn't say anything. He knew what it was like to lose family and saying sorry only made it more akward

"Sorry," she said blushing a little bit, "I tend to ramble on about stuff nobody cares to hear about sometimes. It's a habit that I'm working on." Marinna noticed him staring at her intently and enjoyed it. Her and attention were like peanut butter and jelly. They went together in perfect harmony.
"So, are you avoiding telling me your age?" she asked. She had noticed he never answered the previously asked question. Just about that time, the lady brought out there food. "Yum, looks fantastic. Thank you," she said to the woman. The steamed broccoli complemented the beef perfectly on the plate. It was the prettiest shade of green.

"I don't mind at all honey I just wanted you to know you were doing it, and as for my age I'm 21. I'm an old man so how old are you?" Gunner saw his food and he smiled gratefully to the lady. She gave a little nod and he picked up his fork as he looked to her. Her beef looked good but he had always liked chicken more.
"My sister died when I was younger. She had lukemia and the blood transplant didn't take." There was no pain in his voice but it was in his heart. He had donated his bone marrow but it hadn't taken. He had always felt responsible for her death. It was one of the reasons he'd left home as soon as he turned 18

"Well, i'm actually 17," she replied biting her lip in a semi-nervous manner. Most older guys wouldn't want to deal with her after finding out her age. She wasn't legal, what was the use? Then again, this one was different in every other aspect. Perhaps, he wouldn't be one that would walk away due to the age factor. It wasn't as if her mother was too worried about it.
"Yeah, it seems as if everyone here has the same story. Just about every resident here has lost someone they loved and it seems as if the broken hearts have come together to build this place. Well, I suppose anyways," she said cutting a piece of the beef and placing it in her mouth. It was juicy and flavorful. Next, she cut the stem off of the broccoli and pushed the top part to the side. She tried to avoid that, it always had a funny texture to her. Plus, it was more likely to be stuck in her teeth later. Lord only knows that would be a bad thing if this dinner with a stranger led anywhere.

"Well a sexy little underaged girl. How nice." Gunner didn't give a damn about anyone's age. She was sexy enough to flaunt herself around in that way and he was man enough to tame her down. He gave a grin before digging into his food. He ate slowly wanting to savor the taste of this amazing food.
He didn look up though as she spoke. She ate like a real lady. She even cut her brocoli and only ate part of it. She really was just too cute. He must have looked like a pig taking whole pieces of pork in his mouth with his fork. It wasn't too big for his mouth but she probably expected him to be more like her
